Most consumers looking for healthier, more eco-friendly foods seek out these meat alternatives because companies tout them as better for the planet — and because they contain fiber and not saturated fats, which are better for the planet. for you. But that debate rages on because the number of ingredients in vegan burgers can be over 15, giving critics the ammunition they need to argue that processed foods are never as good as the real thing.
Most of the burgers on this list are considered highly processed foods. and whether they are made in a less environmentally damaging way than beef farming, which is a known environmental polluter, remains to be proven. But with the cost of food rising, the price of vegan meat could reach price parity as early as 2023 and eventually become even cheaper than beef. For example, Impossible Foods’ vegan burger has an MSRP of $6.99 for a 2-pack of patties, compared to a pound of 96% lean beef from Walmart which sells for $6.48 a pound.

Beyond Meat’s vegan patty cooks beautifully and replicates everything you’d expect from a classic grilled burger. Even more impressive, Beyond’s plant-based burger packs 20 grams of protein per patty with a new low-fat recipe designed to excite everyone’s taste buds.
The biggest downside to this burger is the unappetizing smell before it’s cooked (don’t let the dog get too close as it smells a bit like your best friend’s dinner). Despite this, the Beyond Burger is a tasty and hearty meat alternative.

Dr. Praeger’s Perfect Burger
Dr. Praeger’s Perfect Burger lives up to its name by coming closer to the real thing when compared to hotter competitors with larger marketing budgets. This plant-based burger is the underdog champion in our opinion. It sears perfectly on the grill and retains a juicy, mouth-watering texture and beefy flavor. Also, there is no risk of the thicker patty falling apart. If you prefer a thicker patty, this is the choice for you. But add a minute or two to your cooking time to compensate. With 20 grams of protein for 230 calories, this delicious hypoallergenic burger is indeed perfect.

Field Roast chef’s signature veggie burger
Unlike others in this category, Field Roast uses an array of vegetables and they’re all in full evidence in every bite. So if you prefer a more vegetarian burger, this is your best option. The Chef’s Signature Burger features a blend of carrots, garlic, celery and other vegetables, resulting in a juicy burger with vibrant flavors. However, if you’re looking for a plant-based burger that faithfully replicates the true taste of beef, this isn’t the choice for you. This vegan patty cooks easily on the grill or stovetop, and can also be crumbled for chili. It’s also a low-fat option with only 12 grams of fat for 240 calories.

Nutritionally, it’s right in the middle, with 16 grams of protein, 6 grams of fiber, and 11 grams of saturated fat. Lightlife has made a big deal that its formula uses 11 ingredients, compared to Beyond’s 19 listed on the label, to tell consumers: We’re the cleanest, least processed choice. That may be true, but it’s also the least flavorful, and you might want to spice it up before serving your guests. Lightlife’s Herbal Patty makes up for that with its awesome nutrients. Each patty contains 20 grams of protein and provides 25% of your daily iron intake. Soy- and gluten-free, this burger is also a safe option for anyone barbecuing who may have food allergies or sensitivities.

Need a meal on a tight schedule? Meatless Farm’s Plant-Based Thin Burger is a perfect option for a quick lunch. Despite some lack of flavor, the Meatless Farm burger is one of the healthiest options available, containing just 11.9 grams of fat and 5.1 grams of fiber. The burger is also one of the highest in protein with 24.7 grams of protein per patty. However, the ingredient list is high in oil, which is definitely a downside.

The smart incog from Morningstar FarmsMeato galettes are served in 3,000 universities and hospitals across the country; Since kids are picky, if they like it, you know you’ll like it too. This plant-based burger made with soy protein is firm and guaranteed not to crumble on the grill. The Incogemeato burger sears and sizzles even better than the Beyond Burger. MorningStar offers several products that contain egg, so be careful if you’re trying to avoid all dairy products and check labels. These Incogmeato burgers contain 21 grams of protein and 8 grams of fiber. Although the flavoring is a bit bland, add your own for a tasty protein-packed vegan burger.

Ozo’s plant-based burgers taste more like super lean meat, almost like bison if you’ve ever tried that.
