Warrick Swift, Commercial Director of Property Inspect, said: “Cleanliness and hygiene in places of all kinds is becoming more and more important to customers, so a low hygiene rating affects businesses and their customers.

“Sites with a hygiene index of less than three could lose up to 34% of their customers, thus mastering cleaning practices, whether it is a pub, a club or a bar , is vital for survival, especially since the start of the pandemic.

“Tracking cleaning processes and providing transparent information to customers is key to adding peace of mind to your customers’ experience, especially as we begin to learn how to live with Covid. “

All over the UK, 63.71 percent of all pubs, clubs and bars rated 5 for hygiene, and only 0.94 percent rated 1. At the other end of the scale, Worcester ranks lowest, with only 40 percent of places scoring a 5.
